swine flu ppe

What PPE should i use when my family member has swine flu?
if youre asking this, than youre obviously not a medical professional. as such, there is NO ppe available for “the common folk” that will prevent transmission of any flu virus (including h1n1). in other words, you havent been fitted, nor own the proper type of face mask, called a particulate respirator.
the absolute best way to prevent transmission of any flu virus has and always will be to practice frequent handwashing. flu viruses are most often transmitted when a sick person touches their infected mucous, then they touch something like a door knob. later, you come along, touch the door knob, then touch your eyes, nose, or mouth. viola! you now have the flu. wash your hands thoroughly and you will do well. you dont need ppe. just wash your hands and stay more than 3 feet away from your sick family member.
